The Tesira device's encoding bit-depth can be altered using Dante Controller software. Tesira does not offer support for 96kHz sample rate. The default bit rate for all Tesira Dante endpoints is 48kHz / 32-bit PCM.

Since Dante channel routing is done after the Tesira layout has been compiled it is not possible for the software to predict streams and bandwidth requirements as can be done with AVB. The routing information is stored in the Dante-enabled devices themselves. Once the system has been set up, the Dante Controller software can be shut down or removed. You can monitor device status and clock status via Dante Controller. For this reason, audio routes cannot be pre-configured before deploying a Dante network. There is not a limit to the number of receiving channels for a multicast stream.ĭante Controller software operates in real time, and reflects the current state of the network to which it is connected. Thus, a Dante input block can receive more than one network stream.ĭante supports fan out on the network (multicasting) allowing more than one receiving device and channel per transmitting channel. Unlike CobraNet and AVB, Dante provides per-channel routing, so each Dante receiving channel (within an Input block) can conceivably come from a different Dante-enabled device. In order to connect two Dante devices, the user must specify both endpoints using Dante Controller. Further information can be found on the Audinate website under Support > Documentation > User Guides. Biamp strongly recommends always using the latest version of Dante Controller software.

The Dante audio network’s signal routing must be done via Dante Controller software on either a Mac or PC. Please note this article is a comprehensive reference on Biamp's implementation of Dante: the DAN-1 card, TesiraFORTÉ DAN, TesiraFORTÉ X, and TC-5D. The TC-5D must be added to the Equipment Table of the system to allow bridging of Tesira AVB and Dante in a Tesira system. TesiraCONNECT TC-5D can virtualize both AVB and Dante I/O blocks, allowing new options for incorporating Tesira AVB and Dante in a Tesira system. TC-5D can transmit up to 32 channels of audio and receive up to 32 channels of audio using up to 32 flows in each direction. TesiraCONNECT TC-5D does not support video over Dante.
The TesiraCONNECT TC-5D offers a virtualized Dante endpoint hosted in the TC-5D network appliance. TesiraFORTÉ X is available as TesiraFORTÉ X 400, TesiraFORTÉ X 800, and TesiraFORTÉ X 1600. TesiraFORTÉ X can host both AVB and Dante I/O blocks, allowing new options for incorporating Tesira AVB and Dante in a Tesira system. TesiraFORTÉ X offers a virtualized Dante endpoint hosted in the TesiraFORTÉ X network appliance. TesiraFORTÉ X can transmit up to 32 channels of audio and receive up to 32 channels of audio using up to 32 flows in each direction. TesiraFORTÉ X does not support video over Dante. The TesiraFORTÉ DAN is available as a TesiraFORTÉ DAN AI, TesiraFORTÉ DAN CI, TesiraFORTÉ DAN TI, TesiraFORTÉ DAN VI, TesiraFORTÉ DAN VT, and TesiraFORTÉ DAN VT4. TesiraFORTÉ DAN devices do not support Dante redundancy must be connected to the primary Dante network only. The TesiraFORTÉ DAN, based on Audinate's Brooklyn II 32x32 Module, can transmit up to 32 channels of audio and receive up to 32 channels of audio using up to 32 flows in each direction. Tesira does not support video over Dante. Dante is not available for Tesira Expanders. The Tesira Server can support (2) DAN-1 per chassis when running FW 3.14 or later, and (1) DAN-1 per chassis for all earlier releases. The Tesira Server-IO can accept up to (2) DAN-1 cards per chassis. Dante DAN-1 card Hostnames are managed in the corresponding Tesira Server's Device Maintenance dialog. Each Dante channel will have an explicit name. a Dante microphone using 1 flow containing 1 channel) the number of flows will limit the number of connected devices before the 64 channel maximum is reached.Įach input and output block of channels can be defined with between 1 and 64 channels of audio (for a total of 64 inputs x 64 outputs allocated to all blocks per DAN-1 card). When single channel Dante endpoints are used (e.g. A flow is a container Dante uses automatically to encapsulate 1-4 channels for transmission. See Flows)Ī maximum of 32 Dante input devices can be connected. (A flow may be considered roughly analogous to a bundle in CobraNet or a stream in AVB. Tesira does not support video over Dante.Įach DAN-1 card can transmit up to 64 channels of audio and receive up to 64 channels of audio using up to 32 flows in each direction. The Dante DAN-1 card, based on Audinate's Brooklyn II 64圆4 Module, allows Server-class Tesira devices to share digital audio with other Dante-enabled devices, both from Biamp and other manufacturers.
